EAMU Signs Partnership Agreement with the University of Newcastle, Australia

East Asia Management University and University of Newcastle, Australia held a Partnership Signing Ceremony on 6 October 2026. The Ambassadors of Singapore and Australia to Cambodia witnessed the signing, which marks a new milestone in transnational education for Cambodians.

On 6 October 2026, East Asia Management University (EAMU), Cambodia, and the University of Newcastle (UoN), Australia, held a Partnership Signing Ceremony at the EAMU campus in Phnom Penh. The agreement strengthens academic collaboration between the two universities and marks a new milestone in transnational education for Cambodians. It opens the door to closer cooperation between Cambodian and Australian higher education.

Two distinguished guests attended the ceremony: H.E. Mr. Steven Pang, Ambassador of Singapore to Cambodia, and H.E. Mr. Derek Yip, Ambassador of Australia to Cambodia. Both Ambassadors gave remarks and witnessed the signing. Their presence showed the importance of international partnership in education and the strong ties between Cambodia, Singapore and Australia.

Prof. James Chua, Vice Chancellor of EAMU, and Dr. Alek Voninski, Pro Vice-Chancellor Global of the University of Newcastle, signed the agreement on behalf of their institutions. Both leaders spoke about a shared commitment to academic excellence and to widening access to internationally recognised education. They also spoke about creating new opportunities for students and faculty in both countries.

The ceremony ended with a group photo of guests, faculty and staff in front of the EAMU campus. It celebrated the start of an exciting new relationship between the two universities. EAMU looks forward to working closely with the University of Newcastle to bring world-class learning opportunities to students in Cambodia and the region.
