HTM Students Bring Real-World Hotel Service to Life Through Role-Play at EAMU Training Center.

October 26, 2026

Hospitality and Tourism Management students ran a full guest-service simulation at EAMU Training Center. They practised front-office check-in, guest greeting and escorting guests to their rooms, with faculty members acting as guests.

Students from the Hospitality and Tourism Management (HTM) program at East Asia Management University turned theory into practice this week with a hotel service role-play held at EAMU Training Center, the program's simulated hotel front office. The session recreated a real hotel environment from start to finish. Students took on the roles of front-desk agents and bellpersons, and faculty members stepped in as arriving guests.

The simulation began the way every great stay does, with a warm welcome. The front-office team greeted guests with the traditional Cambodian sampeah, then went through a professional check-in: confirming reservations, handling guest documents and presenting room keys. All of this took place at a reception desk set up to international standards, with world clocks showing the time in Phnom Penh, London, New York and Tokyo.

Once check-in was complete, the bellperson took over. He handled the guest's luggage, walked them through the corridors and introduced the room and its amenities on arrival. Each step was carried out with the courtesy, attention to detail and composure expected in professional hotels. Students practised not only the procedures but also the soft skills that shape a guest's experience: body language, tone of voice and anticipating needs before they are spoken.

Throughout the session, HTM faculty watched closely and gave feedback on the spot, guiding students on service flow, guest communication and front-office etiquette. This hands-on approach reflects the program's belief that excellent hospitality is learned by doing. Every simulated interaction builds the confidence students will need when they step into hotels, resorts and tourism businesses across Cambodia and beyond.

The role-play is one of many practical learning experiences that prepare EAMU's hospitality students to do more than work in the industry. They are being prepared to lead it. By training in a realistic setting, students graduate with the polish, professionalism and service mindset that employers value.
