Policy Statement
East Asia Management University (EAMU) requires all students to dress in a manner consistent with the standards of a professional learning environment. This policy applies to all students while on university premises and at any external locations used for official academic activities, including but not limited to field trips, exchanges, and internships.
Objectives
This policy establishes a standardised dress code for all EAMU students in order to promote a smart, neat, and professional appearance. By upholding these standards, the university aims to enhance students' professional image in preparation for future workplace expectations and to contribute positively to the overall perception and reputation of the institution.
Scope
This policy applies to all EAMU students across all academic and university-related activities and establishes the procedures for implementing and enforcing the student dress code.
Dress Code Requirements
4.1 Prohibited Attire
Students are expected to dress appropriately in all academic and university-related settings. The following items are not allowed:
- Revealing clothing: tops that are low-cut, see-through, halter, crop, or midriff-baring; very short shorts; short skirts above the upper thigh.
- Improper bottom wear: sagging pants or leggings worn without a long top that covers the hips.
- Footwear: slippers, flip-flops, or other shoes not suitable for a professional environment.
- Offensive or inappropriate items: clothing or accessories with drug-related symbols, degrading messages, or offensive content.
- Headgear: hats or caps inside classrooms, unless approved for religious or medical reasons.
- Excessive accessories: jewellery or items that may distract from learning.
Student Communication
To ensure all students understand and comply with the dress code, this policy will be:
- Included in the Student Handbook.
- Communicated during New Student Orientation.
- Displayed on Dress Code Posters in prominent campus locations.
Compliance and Enforcement Procedures
6.1 Initial Measures
If a student's attire does not comply with the dress code, staff (Student Relations / Academic Administration) will:
- Notify the student immediately.
- Advise the student to correct their attire and comply with the policy in the future.
6.2 Disciplinary Actions for Repeated Violations
EAMU applies a progressive disciplinary approach for repeated violations of the dress code to ensure fairness and compliance:

Exemption requests must be submitted to the Academic Manager for approval. Supporting documentation may be required to verify the request.
