Hospitality and tourism is a fast developing and growing sector with increasing number of people travelling and working in both tourism and hospitality-related enterprises. Both areas indeed are very much intertwined offering highly interesting and enriching experiences and promising career. This programme exposes students to the nature and mechanism in both hospitality and tourism industries. It educates the graduates with knowledge and skills that covers the management and organisation in the provision and consumption of hospitality and tourism products and services, such as attractions, conventions, resorts, hotels, conference centres, theme parks, restaurants, retails, casinos, clubs etc.
Graduates gain a good understanding of the hospitality and tourism sector within the context of the local and global business environments;
Gain a good understanding on the interrelatedness and dynamics between hospitality establishments (including MICE) and tourism attractions as an economic driver for a country;
Equip graduates with sound functional understanding of the roles and responsibilities of key operational departments in a hotel establishment to be effective contributors as individuals and in teams;
Develop a deep appreciation of the roles and responsibilities of supervisors and managers in a hotel establishment.
Demonstrate the ability to retain and deploy the knowledge and skills taught in lessons and practices with attention to details;
Demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and skills with confidence and professionalism in practical training situations and in real-life internship conditions.
Demonstrate good analytical and evaluative skills to solve structured and situational issues and problems through critical thinking, and logical sound reasoning;
Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills to influence and operate as a team leader;
Display good personal discipline, time management and teamwork skills to achieve desired outcomes (shown in assessment results).
Oversee guest accommodation services, managing reservations, housekeeping standards, and the overall comfort of residents and guests.
Manage hotel operations across departments — front desk, housekeeping, and F&B — to deliver exceptional guest satisfaction.
Establish and run retail businesses, managing purchasing, pricing, staffing, and customer relations to drive profitability.
Plan and manage catering services for events and institutions, coordinating food preparation, staffing, and health and safety compliance.
Oversee restaurant operations including staff supervision, menu coordination, inventory control, and ensuring outstanding dining experiences.
Develop, market, and operate tour products, managing guides, itineraries, and customer experiences across local and international destinations.
Plan and manage Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions, delivering seamless large-scale events for corporate and institutional clients.
Support tourism development initiatives, supervise visitor services, and coordinate with local attractions and government agencies.
