Finance is the study on how an individual or a company manages its funds. It encompasses the management of money at the personal, corporate and public levels. Students learn how the world economy functions and all the activities associated with money, investments, debts, capital markets; and processes and considerations behind the deployment and creation of specific funds. Banking is a specialized functions within finance and is an essential activity in the financial sector and a key conduit for all global trades and business transactions.
The programme offers an applied oriented approach to gain a solid foundation in banking and financial planning and executions. It is grounded on banking operations to equip graduates to go straight into a job in the local banks or financial institutions. It is ideal for someone seeking a career in the financial sector.
To enter EAMU, students are required to provide the required documents and meet the criteria for admission as follows:
a) Admission documents requirements
b) Academic requirements for admission to Year 1
The Alternate student admission pathway entry requirements are directed at matured adults who have acquired sufficient working experience and competencies to contribute in quality learning in the classrooms.
c) Academic requirements for Transfer-in students into Year 2
*Note: all Transfer-in applications need to be approved by MoEYS and may result in additional bridging subjects of Year 1 before proceeding or concurrent to Year 2 degree program.
Conditions for obtaining a degree
PLO1. Acquire a good understanding of key concepts and theories of economics, finance and banking and their relationships within the global business environment;
PLO2. Equip and apply the specialised knowledge and skills on subject matters of finance, investment, financial tools, data and risk analyses, and banking management;
PLO3. Equip graduates with sound understanding on the roles and responsibilities of a financial specialist to be effective contributors as individuals and in teams in organisations;
PLO4. Demonstrate the ability to retain and deploy the knowledge and skills taught in lessons and practices with attention to details;
PLO5. Demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and skills with confidence and professionalism in case studies, practical situations and in real-life internship conditions when available.
PLO6. Demonstrate good analytical and evaluative skills to solve structured and situational issues and problems through critical thinking, and logical sound reasoning;
PLO7. Demonstrate ability to operate independently whilst also deploy effective communication and interpersonal skills to influence and operate as a team player and leader;
PLO8. Display good personal discipline, time management and teamwork skills to achieve desired outcomes (shown in assessment results).
PL09. Develop the competencies in the use of simple mathematics and computer software skills to conduct financial calculations to prepare and/or analyse financial statements.
